Let's start out with the cons.
Since I have owned my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Special Edition I have had many problems. Within the first few hundred miles I had to take the Jeep back to the dealer because the transmission failed and had to have a new overdrive solenoid installed. A month after that the headliner began to fall off and had to be replaced.
Also there has always been a rough engine idle since I've own my Jeep. I have the 4.7L V8, which I have been told by the dealership on many occasions, that the rough engine idle is normal for Jeep V8's. It took four trips and me going out on the internet to find a TSB(Technical Service Bulletin) to have the dealership fix the problem, which has only gotten a little better.
The 2004 Jeep also has a problem in the steering column. A popping noise and clicking sound can be heard from the steering column while driving. This noise is very noticeable while driving but hard to reproduce while the car is in park. I also had to get a TSB to have the dealership fix this problem.
So far these are the only problems I have had but the effort that I have had to put out to have Chrysler fix these problems has been extensive.
Of all the car brands that I have owned Chrysler has given me the worst customer service.
Pros on the Jeep is its styling. You know its a Jeep. The interior is very comfortable and all controls are easy to reach.
I have installed aftermarket products on my Jeep and they have added to the performance and look of my Jeep. I have installed a Flowmaster muffler, K&N cold air intake and Sylvania Silver Star Headlights.
Be warned though, Chrysler looks down on these products and if possible, will say they are the cause of any problems you have.
