If you are having trouble keeping your pets toys from being chewed up and finding their way under all kinds of furniture, then purchase some of these "Lion Log Plush Dog Toys" for your four legged friends. I have yet to find a plush dog toy that our dogs can not tear apart but this one is sure in the running. You can find this at most any place that sells dog toys, but we found ours at Pet-Co on clearance sale for only $11.99. they usually run $15.99. We have seen these at Pet Smart, Meijer's, K-Mart, and just about any store that will sell dog food, will sell some type of version of this toy.
This toys are only 12” and 24” in length and have ½" thick soft non-toxic material attached all around the whole exterior, and only weigh a few ounces. This particular plush dog toy is a light tan in color and has the shape of a lion. The look of this toy is not the best, but our dogs do not care what they look like. All of these types of toys are made with different basic colors and basically one shape, and that is round and long. The nice thing about these toys is that they do not require any batteries to operate properly, only an active imagination by your pets. These toys do not come in any cellophane or box, just a tag that has to be removed before you give it to your pet. I also thought that dogs were color blind (the jury is still out on that subject), so I think that the only reason that they make them in different colors is for the owners, so that they will purchase more of these cute toys. We have found that this also has some benefits for the smaller pets, and that is this will stop your pets from chewing on your furniture, because it is made of cloth your pets will not hurt their mouths.
We have used these for several years and it has always done an excellent job entertaining our pets. This has given our children (Pets) several hours of enjoyment and excitement when they are finally finished they left them lying, wet and yucky and you do not want to even touch them. You do not have to worry because these toys are completely machine washable. While our pets were playing, they would come running to us to show how proud that they were, because they were able to succeed in digging this toy out of the hole that they last left them in. Once they were done they would go back to the spot where they were playing with this, and dump the basket all over the floor and start playing over and over again. Each time they would finish, they would come running to show us how proud that they were of themselves. Just to make it look like we really cared what they did their new toy.
Because this toy is so light, your pet can easily toss it into the air and catch it. This may be a little confusing, but, our children (Pets) being so small, really did not understand that these are supposed to be put away after each use, all they knew was that the was kind of still sticky from the last time that they played with it. They enjoyed this immensely, they were just happy that they were able to make us smile, these toys usually never fall apart but the stuffing could cause a choking hazard if they were to pull the stuffing out. Our pets are older but still play like little children, they have enjoyed hours of fun with these toys. We do have older pets that can get a little bored with this toy, but they continue to still play with it just because it does occupy their time when they get bored.
I have found the older that your child is(our Pets), they will get bored easily and they will soon stop playing earlier than the younger pets do. We do have a large pet that thinks that these are made to tear apart and leave the little material pieces (white foam stuffing)around on the floor for us to pick up. The amusement of this toy will only last for a little while with the older ones, but our younger pets will play for hours, maybe just a few years will go by before they settle down. But, that is only a wish, sometimes they can drive us nuts, because they keep bringing us these toys and wanting us to throw it for them. Unless your pet has a learning disability or is really old, then this toy will come in handy for years to come.
As long as you do not expect this toy to last forever, when teaching your pets to sit, stay, come, and down, this will be enough to get them started. This is excellent for starting off and then who knows this may lead to more obedient controlled pets. This is a reasonably inexpensive toy, that even if they tear it apart it will not cost you and arm and a leg to replace it. Our kids (Pets) love this toy and we have went through several of these, and we will continue to purchase them, as long as our pets never get hurt by this. So far they have never gotten any type of injury from this toy. Five stars for this one. Now if they could make these really tough so our pets will not be able to pull the stuffing out.
