I have written a number of reviews about Betsey Johnson jewelery and accessory pieces because I adore the brand and own lots of items from it. Next to Disney Couture, this brand is my favorite whimsical jewelry brand. I own the Betsey Johnson Farmhouse Bow Drop Earrings and, while I am much more edgy in general when it comes to jewelry, these bows are adorable and amazingly versatile.

About the Earrings

The Betsey Johnson Farmhouse Bow Drop Earrings are red although they seem to appear orange in the listing photo. They're made of enamel, embellished with crystals and have antiqued gold plating. The earrings are lever backs, my favorite type of backing. They are only bows on one side. The back is all gold plated. The bows are an inch wide and  have a 1.5 inche drop which is a medium size. They are dangles and the bow detailing has uneven ties, rhinestones spaced around the bows, and a a gold plated petaled flower with a little pearl inside right in the middle of the bow.

My Experience

I like skulls, spikes, and tribal jewelry these days but at times. I like the girly look. Betsey Johnson makes both edgy and girly jewelry as well as whimsical stuff like pig, cat, and deer pieces. The Betsey Johnson Farmhouse Bow Drop Earrings are lightweight but not flimsy. They secure by going into the piercing and the back closes so they are secure, unlike fish hook drops.

The red bows don't look like holiday type ones which was a fear of mine. I think of red bows and I think of Christmas. However, these work in all seasons. The bow is is a simple tied one, not a Christmas bow. The rhinestones are small but shiny and the little pearl flower in the middle accentuates the femininity of the earrings.

I like longer earrings in general so even I was surprised that I liked the length of these earrings. I think, because they have so much detailing, they stand out without the length. I have long hair and earrings can get lost if they're too small or not detailed or eye catching enough.

These earrings are definitely eye catching. They sparkle in any light and the bow dangles aalthough not annoyingly so. The bows do move when I move my head which allows the rhinestones to catch the light.

I just wore these earrings today with a very casual outfit and was suprpised at the compliments I received. I guess the color against my dark hair and the way they dangle and shine caught people's eye.

These earrings are well made and don't feel fragile in any way. Betsey Johnson jewelry traditionally is high quality and well made. I have never had anything by the brand break or bend.

I'm not sure why they are called "Farmhouse" bows, but I did see the Farmhouse collection and there are things that make sense like chickens, sunflowers, and fruit pieces with things that don't like multiple stone hoops and a gorgeous bow necklace that I am lusting over.

In all, if you like feminine earrings with a little bit of shine and sparkle, these earrings are a great choice. I didn't think I would wear red often but it seems to fit into my wardrobe much better than i thought. I really like these earrings!

The Verdict

I never thought I would be a fan of bows, rhinestones, and floral pearls but here I am wearing my Betsey Johnson Farmhouse Bow Drop Earrings and getting compliments every time. These adorable bow earrings are all season and dress up or down. They're made well and aren't too heavy, a must for me. They are also a good size, not too big, yet big enough to be seen and appreciated. I give these earrings 4 stars.
