Pros: Well balanced
Cons: Trigger area irritates my finger.
I made the purchase of this Black & Decker Hh255 24 Inch Electric Hedge Trimmer after my Homelite died unexpected one early spring day mid-job.
Having hedges and bushes in a suburban plot of 60' X 180' I need to try and keep them from becoming overgrown eyesores. My side hedges are about 6' high when trimmed. I just took them down from a spring growth of about 8'.
I am not one for meticulous trimming. I get my hedge trimmer out two, perhaps three tiomes a year and do a quick hack job to a point where everything looks neat and tidy. Because this B&D hedge trimmer cost more than my Homelite, I am hoping it will continue to make the job easier.
Black & Decker Hh255 24 Inch Hedge Trimmer
This is an electric trimmer. I like electric for all my outdoor tools except for my mower and one of my chain saws. Though they may not be as powerful as gas, the electric is lighter, much quieter, doesn't need the same kind of maintenance, I don't have to fool with gas, it doesn't get as hot and I don't have to breath fumes that aren't good for me or the atmosphere.
The disadvantage of course is that I am tied to an outlet and don't have the total freedom a gas engine appliance offers and probably a little less power too.
I like the 24" blade because it gives me good reach without having to purchase a huge commercial type trimmer. The leverage of 24" isn't terrible on the shoulders and forearms either.
The handle that I had to screw on after opening the box is the middle weight of the saw keeping it balanced at that point. The motor section with the trigger seems somewhat longer than most trimmers.
This trimmer has a built in swivel that can be accessed from buttons on either side of the trigger area. Push the button and swing the handle. It can be set at 45 degree or 90 degree left and right.
This makes for easier handling of the trimmer when doing vertical work and sculpting. It's handy but because I get good grip on the handle of this B&D trimmer from its top and either side I don't need to have it.
This trigger has a two step start and hold. First a lever atop the trimmer must be placed in position and then the trigger can be squeezed and held. This keeps from accidental starts.
One thing I have noticed is that the trigger, when depressed leaves an opening area under it that brings irritation to my middle finger to the point of near blister. I suppose it's the way I hold the saw but I never got this with any other trimmer.

MFG Brand Name : BLACK & DECKER
MFG Model # : HH2455
MFG Part # : HH2455
The one fact stating fully assembled is wrong. The handle must be placed on and screwed in by the consumer. It takes all of two minutes with a #2 Phillips head. This is the HH2455 I own and use.
I found that the blades cut well and do cut 3/4" branches. That's the largest because that's the size of the blade openings. Though I did have to give some of those larger branches a couple of passes or "chops," it does take a little extra work at times.
The machine is relatively quiet and smooth running. I do like the 24" length allowing for a l;ittle bit less stretch at times. The handles feel good to the hand offering solid grip.
