A few years ago I decided to start investing in some better bath toys for my daughter.  After throwing away too many moldy and mildewed toys, I started looking for ones that were mold resistant and without seems for water to get trapped.  My search led me to Boon Products that offer a wide range of bath toys that are BPA free and mold resistant.  Our latest purchase has been the Boon Trap Appliqués for our toddler daughter.

Boon Trap Tub Appliqués come in a range of colors and shapes.  The shapes I could make out in our set are a fly, bee, butterfly, caterpillar, a ant and a snail.  There are a few other shapes that I didn't recognize but in all the set comes with 10 appliqués.  The shapes are a hard foam and completely covered with color.  There are holes in a few of them to represent eyes and wings of each of the insects.  The set comes in a small cardboard box which isn't really reusable since it takes a bit for the product to actually dry.  This product would have gotten a high rating from me if there had been a net bag or something to hold them all together.  We have a small bucket in the bathroom for bath toys which is getting filled up quickly with all the long lasting toys we have purchased.

I like that these foster a child's imagination, my daughter will stick them on the bath wall and make up stories for each of the insects.  This may sound boring but trust me, she loves playing with them.  They also make good passengers in her Dunck boats, another excellent BPA free bath toy that is a favorite around our house.   

The Boon Trap Allpliques do not absorb water therefore they don't get moldy and gross.  Dipping them in water makes them stick to the wall and they stick pretty well, often I will have to pull them off the wall long after bath time is over.  

Occasionally I will give them a soak in a some water and a few drop of bleach to get rid of any bacteria and they have held up really well.  Another perk of these toys are that they are BPA free and Phthalate free, which is an important characteristic around these parts.  It's all about balance for my family and if we can get the majority of quality toys, I don't mind allowing some regular plastic toys in the house.  

I would definitely buy this product again, in fact I'm considering ordering one of the other sets shaped like beach animals and items.  We get lots of use and playtime out of these and for around $9 I don't mind spending the money on bath toys that will last and not get moldy.
