The Bottom Line: Buy this game! Best game I have ever played.  A First Person, Role Playing Shooter that you will not be able to put down and can play again and again.

I had bought Borderlands from hearing about it from a coworker, and was I suprised. How had I not known of this game before? I purchased the game of the year edition which contained all of the DLC levels, and I couldn't stop playing.  The style of the game is like no other, with a cartoony color scheme and thick oulined landscapes and characters. The character voices are perfect to the character, and the storyline is as interesting as any game I have played before.  It is well paced, and took many approximately 50 hours to finish, on the first playthrough. After an initial playthrough you can keep playing while being able to start at the same level and keeping all of your guns.  A word about the guns - amazing! There is a seemingly infinite variety of guns, from the maker of the gun, to the ammo style, to the reload speed, the ammo capacity, the rarity, etc.  You constantly find new weapons.  The enemies are all very varied and constantly different, you never go up against a boss that you can defeat with the same strategy as another.  The DLC levels are equally as fun, though a couple are quite short.

Character Classes:

There are four character classes, which are Mordecai (sniper), Brick (melee and charger), Lilith (Phasewalker - an invisible sprint boost type), and Roland (all around soldier). I played with Mordecai (I can't ever not use a sniper type - close quarters combat is not my thing), but have witnessed this game played with Lilith often as well.  I am not too familiar with the different classes, though from what I have seen and heard it is a completely different experience with each character's attributes.  Next time I play through it again (because I definitely will), I may try a different class.  Even the fact that I would want to play it all over again with a different character class is enough for me to love this game.

Controls and Gameplay:

The controls are general and simple, easy to use and easy to figure out.  There aren't too many crazy different things you can do control wise; the simplicity of using the character to me is a huge plus in a game.  Without having to adapt to using a different button to run or using tons of different keys, the controls are perfect.  Even the driving is wonderfully easy and still provides a challenge.  Every aspect of how you control your character will be familiar and easy.

Borderlands will always keep you entertained by finding new weapons, opening new ammo boxes or chests in enemy forts or tucked away in a corner of a cave.  You have to  loot everything you can find to find the best weapons and to find cash to buy more things, and besides you needing to it is so much fun.  Enemies always drop loot as well, so you should never run out of options.  You have a backpack which can store an increasing amount of weapons, and you can have four equipped as well (along with grenade mods and shields).  You skill up and get points to spend on a wide possibility of things depending on your class, such as headshot damage increase, loot dropped by enemies increase, critical hit increase, etc.  These don't have an extremely visible impact in the game, but as you level up the enemies do too - so choose your points wisely.

Online:

Though I have never tried it, I have heard lots of praise about Borderlands' co-op and online modes.  Due to a not great internet connection (and very few playing it on PC) I can't play with it online, but a few good friends have claimed that it is many times better when playing it co-op online. Give it a try too if you can!

Overall, I can't fully explain how much I love this game.  I have pre-ordered Borderlands 2 and it is by far the game I look most forward to of this year.  Please play this game, it deserves at least a playthrough or two. Nothing wrong with this game at all. Perfect
