I worked for a medium sized company which had about 150 employees. We decided to go with a payroll service rather than do inhouse payroll. After researching several payroll services, we chose Paychex based on their lower fees.

I was the payroll clerk and had to meet with the Paychex representatives to learn their software and the details of their services.

I had the most unpleasant experience of meeting with Chuck. He was one of those men who think women can do nothing right and was horribly pompous during the entire meeting.

I called the branch manager and asked to have another rep. for our company, because of their limited amount of employees, we were not given one at that time.

After we had the service for a few months, I encountered a problem with the software and called Chuck and asked him for some help. He became angry with me for disagreeing with him, and refused to help, saying the problem was with me and not their program.

When I entered payroll in the next day(please remember that we had 150 employees!) for three and a half hours, the computer crashed because of their software!

At that time, I again called the manager, and he took over our services. He came out to verify that it was their software and to see if any of that information could be retrieved.

Since it could not, I had to stay until 9:00 that evening finishing payroll. It did not get into their system until too late to process the next day, so payroll was late. Imagine how upset everyone was over that one!

Several times, they did not have payroll ready when promised, and we would have to go pick it up later and deliver it to the different managers for distribution.

When they did our W-2's, the information was not correct and they had to re-do them. We were not able to give them out to the employees until the first of February.

Because of all of these problems, we changed payroll services and I was never happier!
