Unprofessional, sorry excuse for a shipping company

We ordered a gift from a online store and they ship via DHL. We selected 2nd day air shipping. Paying $12.95 for the service to make sure that it made it here in time for Christmas. We ordered the item on 12/15/05 and today on 12/21/05 we checked the tracking number yet again. It said delivered to the door today at 12:42pm. We were home all day long and NO ONE came to our house to deliver a package. We called DHL and they said it was delivered to our door and when we told them it was not delivered because we were home all day they said they would have to get ahold of the person who delivered it.
An hour later they called back. They delivered it to a house with two 1's on the mailbox. Our house number is 111.......every house on our block has two 1's in it. I walked all around our subdivision looking at every mailbox and NO WHERE did I find a mailbox with only two 1's on it. So apparently their drivers just drop a package off where ever they feel like regardless of whether it is the correct address or not. They say that they will make an attempt to recover the item tomorrow but I'm not holding my breath about it.
The person we spoke to was extremely rude and acted as if they could care less that the package hadn't arrived and basically called us liars. I will never order from anywhere that ships DHL again. We have never had any problems with FedEx or UPS. The FedEx guy has been to our house so many times in the last month that we have started offering him dinner because he's beginning to feel like family. Stay far away from DHL.
UPDATE****** DHL came out and tried the recover the package they had left. However the people who lived in the house that it was left at claimed that they never received a package and didn't know what the courier was talking about. Surprisingly DHL managed to find the correct house when they came to tell us that they could not recover the package. The courier said she looked at the house numbers on the front of the houses and figured out which one was ours. Gee this whole mess would have been avoided had she done that the first time when she was delivering th e package. She gave us a number to call and file a claim. Now we just have to wait for the claim to be processed and hopefully get our money back.
