So I'm waiting for my new computer, ordered online, to arrive. It's shipped in 2 bundles from Georgia on the same day at the same time. Package 1 arrives at the processing center in Texas and ships out next morning. Package 2 arrives in Texas at the same time and ships out 2 days later. Through Fedex's handy online package tracker, I'm able to learn when Package 1 will arrive and, being anxious to get my hands on the new machine, arrange to take the day off. It arrives at 1:30 pm on the scheduled day. Yay, FedEx. Package 2, still in Texas, finally moves off the loading dock and is due to arrive 2 days later. No problem, it's on my day off and it too arrives at 1:30. So far, so good. Now the trouble starts.
The monitor is backordered, but finally ships with an arrival date of 6/20 @ approx. 4:30. I leave work early and get home well before then to find a FedEx doortag indicating a delivery attempt @ 1:30. Will reattempt delivery on 6/21. I leave a note for the delivery guy-- I work and am not normally home @ 1:30 on a weekday (duh!) but am home by 4:30. Arrive home on 6/21 to find another doortag, delivery attempted @ 1:30, will reattempt 6/22. Okay, no problem, he obviously saw the note. I check online and it shows delivery to be made 6/22 @ approx. 4:30. Yay, the guy figured it out with only minimal prompting! 6/22, I leave work @ 2:30 to be home by 3, in plenty of time for the approx. 4:30 delivery time. Arrive at home to find another doortag-- 3rd and final delivery attempt made at 1:30!!!!!! Call FedEx Customer Support (there's a non sequitur) and am only told (repeatedly) "well, we have to deliver during business hours." Okay, since when is 4:30 pm a non-business hour? Am I supposed to take a day off whenever FedEx deigns to deliver a package? But, in best Customer non-Support fashion it's suggested I could drive to their North Hills distribution center after 6 pm to pick it up. Gee, pardon me if I don't want to make a 60 mile roundtrip to the San Fernando Valley through rush-hour traffic in 90 degree weather. Silly me.
Long story short, I guess the package is on it's way back to Georgia and I've instrcuted the vendor to reship via UPS or USPS. I'll NEVER rely on these boobs again!
UPDATE-- Okay, the monitor gets back to the vendor and they contact me. They express their regrets for my problem with FedEx and are willing to re-ship free of charge (Monarch Computers, if anyone is in the market for a new one. Unlike Fedex, they rock!). They give me the option of UPS or they can ship it to a FedEx "hub" (i.e., a Fedex outlet akin to the UPS stores you see around) that's only 2 miles from me and open until 11 pm. Now, I relate this because it was an option which should've been offered by the ineffectual and unhelpful FedEx "Customer Support" from the get-go. Had that been offered as an alternative, I probably wouldn't have written this review AND I'd have my new monitor right now!
3 guesses how I'm having my monitor delivered this time...
