Pros: They must work as advertised at least some of the time.
Cons: Price, Reliability, Customer Service
The Bottom Line: I wouldn't trust them to get it there when they say and they don't work to resolve issues very well. USPS is far more reliable in my opinion.

| bucsfanatic's Full Review: FedEx 2Day |
I usually use the USPS for shipping packages - they are cheap and reliable and I trust them. They get a bad rap but I have never had any issues with the USPS. Recently I ordered a birthday present for my brother online and I had procrastinated as usual so I needed to get it there fast. It was picked up by FedEx from the company on a Thursday and I had ordered 2 day service so I expected it to be there on Saturday. I didn't know that you have to request Saturday delivery. Still, Monday would have been okay - his birthday was Sunday and that wouldn't have been too late.
I tracked the package online to see if had been delivered on Monday. It said "Attempted Delivery". I called and found out that the driver said the address didn't exist. I doublechecked the address to make sure I hadn't screwed up but it was the same one I have used for years. I looked it up on the USPS website and got a carrier route number and everthing so I knew it was valid then. I then looked it up on the FedEx website and they had it in their database as well. So I called them back and told them this - I also told them that I didn't want the package delayed any longer so I asked them to reroute it to my mother who lives a few miles away. They tried to charge me for this until I reminded them that I paid for 2 day service and that it was their fault it didn't get delivered. So now the package is supposed to go to my mom.
The next day I checked online and it said "Delay beyond our control". I called and it was due to the weather, which is disappointing but understandable. This went on for a couple of days. The next Friday I was happy to see online that the package was on a truck headed for delivery. I expected it would be delivered that day. Saturday morning I got up and checked, expecting to see that it was delivered only to see that it was back in the Fed Ex location (by the way, the nearest FedEx location to my brother is two hours away so I didn't think he should have to make a four hour trip to pick up his own birthday present). I was pretty upset and called FedEx again.
To set this next part up you need to know the date I am making the call - Mar 1, 2003. I opened my side of the conversation with the (vague, I know, but still) "I sent a package a long time ago and it has still not been delivered and I am calling to find out why." To which the csr responded in a certain tone "By a long time ago do you mean last year?".
Now, at this point I am already upset before I called but I was attempting to be nice. When she said that, it really struck me as outrageous and I said " You don't have to be a smartass." She acted shocked and said she was being nothing but professional. Maybe she was! Maybe it is not uncommon for them to have packages for over two months that have not been delivered!!! It sounded like a snide comment to me though.
So, anyway here it is Monday and again the website says it is on a truck. We'll see I guess. Another thing to keep in mind - if no one is home FedEx will not leave the package at the doorstep unless you tell them to. My boyfriend went through this with textbooks that he ordered overnight. They didn't leave a note or call or anything so he didn't know if they had even attempted until he called.
I had also sent flowers to my brothers wife for her birthday the previous week. They were ordered online and were supposed to be overnighted by FedEx - when they arrived (not on time) they were brown and everyone who saw them said they would not pay for them or order flowers from that company. I was very upset because flowers are expensive so I called the company and they refunded my money - now however I truly believe the fault lies with FedEx. I will never voluntarily use them again. I will opt for USPS or UPS in the future.
