After reading negative experiences others have had with UPS, I feel the need to give a different perspective- and no, I do NOT work for them. All of my interactions with UPS have been reasonable, if not positive. When searching for options to get something sent out in a rush, I found UPS a viable service.

They will come to your home for an evening pick up- something unavailable through the US Post Office. I find them to be more expensive than the Post Office, but more accessible. On numerous occasions they have left the yellow slip, showing that they left the package with a neighbor. On the times when the yellow slip was left with no delivery to the neighbors, UPS showed up the next day with the package.
I think any time you work with a larger organization, you are prone to experiencing more inefficient service. If I had experienced anything like what I read others experiencing, I would make sure to document it and file a formal complaint. For service organizations, much of one's experience will depend on the accountability of the local leadership- I guess I am lucky that my local UPS service has been not only acceptable, but recommendable.
