| tedulus's Full Review: UPS Standard to Canada |
I've ordered a number of things from the US for shipment to Canada both through ebay and also from websites.
I've had six experiences with UPS and all were bad.
The sellers think because they're sending them prepaid, there is no charge on the receiving end. The brokerage charge even for a duty free item seems to be about equal to the value of the item. Then because of these charges the item becomes COD and you have to wait around for days to receive it.
One time they left the incoming parcel at the door without
collecting for it and it wasn't marked COD. I thought maybe because of its low value or duty free status or something there was no charge. It was a part for something I was repairing for someone. About six weeks later I received a bill in the mail and lost about $60.00 on that job.
I have a sign on my door now that says, "No UPS COD's Please
Return to Sender". Sometimes vendors are instructed to ship by mail but ship UPS instead. Now they get it back or
UPS can destroy it because the UPS COD charges are worth more than the package contents for most of the items that I'm importing.
They make Canada Post seem like a gem.
