Pros: Drivers are courteous. Delivery times are adequate.
Cons: Hidden fees for cross-border deliveries are an insult to every customer.
The Bottom Line: Avoid UPS like the plague for cross-border shipments. They are fine for local delivery.

I'm not sure how UPS Canada stays in business. Everyone I know who has received shipments from out of the country through them has a huge horror story about their insane brokerage fees.
I only have two, as I now refuse to use UPS for any of my cross-border purchases. First I ordered some road hockey gloves online (3 pairs -- I was ordering for myself and fellow players) that came to a value of around $120. When the package arrived UPS wanted $75. I explained to the driver that I was already charged for delivery and he explained it was customs and brokerage fees. Duty was low ($18?) and the rest was UPS' fee for filling out a 5 minute form to get things over the border. I refused to pay and they shipped the gloves back to the store. The store refused to re-send them via USPS because I had already refused delivery once. I didn't bother arguing the point.
A year later our laptop computer's battery was recalled. We phoned the company and they got our information to ship out our free replacement. When it arrived it had been shipped from the US and UPS wanted $34 in brokerage fees for the FREE WARRANTY REPLACEMENT battery.
Any online orders I make now I insist that the store does not use UPS to ship. I make use of the "Notes" field and state that if they cannot ship via an alternate courier or simply the regular postal service that they should cancel my order and let me know. It's worked so far.
