Several times I have had to send things priority mail. I like this service. It cost less than overnight, and my packages have always gotten to their destinations in that 2 day period.
Recently I had to send some legal documents to the state of Arkansas. I needed them to get there as quickly as possible. I checked into the overnight deal, but the address was not available for overnight, so I sent the package 2 day priority mail. This would have been from Monday to Wednesday. I also sent it certified, return receipt w/signature. The package did make it on time.
It cost me 6.45 to send this package. That is a lot less than overnight. You can now purchase a tracking receipt for like .40 cents if you are interested.
The only problem I did have was that after a week I had not gotten my return receipt copy back, and I tried to find out why. I was told at that time, it can take up to 30 days to get this receipt back. I didn't like that at all. I had to call the place the package was going to, to find out if it had been received or not. (it had and on the Wednesday it was due to get there, thank goodness.) The return receipt has finally came in. If I remember correctly, and I am sure that I do, in the past I have not had this problem with a return receipt. So the information about taking 30 days was new to me, and somewhat frustrating. But, I got over it.
The important thing for me, is `the United States Postal Service has always done for me what they have said they would. And in some areas the service stinks. My daughters area over in Mississippi is one of those places. But here where I live at in Florida, I have had no problems.
I go in so much that I am known by name now. That is a good feeling to know. When someone you do business with takes the time to remember you, that is good enough for me.
I love the various types of stamps that I can choose to purchase as well. I really like the yellow roses, those are my favorites. I do buy the stamps that help support the different cancer researches.
Some things cost more to send by the USPS and some things don't. Check around first. And when sending something of value, always get it insured. Also, when sending something of importance to you, always send it certified mail with a return receipt. This will protect you when that loan company says they didn't get the payment and you can say "oh really, well I have a return receipt right here in my hand with John Doe's signature that says you did." Protect your mail and your self.
Use common sense at anything you decide to do.
