Solve Story Problems Using Pictures is a well designed work presented by an educator specifically to meet the needs of classroom teachers as educators endeavor to meet State and Common Core grade leveled educational standards regarding curriculum presented in the classroom.

Cover is brightly hued heavy card stock, features a happy go lucky, child pleasing hippo, while the pages are excellent quality paper. Child pleasing images found upon each page are well planned and executed, color is presented using non toxic inks.

Osage Count First Grade Little Learners become skilled at and gain knowledge needed regarding how to break down and be aware of the structure of a word problem as they work together with a partner to learn to use pictures as they Solve Story Problems.

As an aide guiding little students toward growing comprehension regarding structure of word problem via step-by-step graphics that are kid pleasing, amusing, easily recognize, easy to follow and allow Little Learners to use manipulatives for greater understanding to work through each problem in a tangible, practical method.
I like that concepts are organized page by page, sequentially per complexity and comprise what we called individualized instruction, now differentiation, by introducing work with complete teacher support and ending with nominal support.

With a table of contents reading Playful Animal Sums Facts 0 Through 9, More Playful Sums Facts 10 Through 18, Friendly Animal Differences 0 Through 9, More Friendly Differences 10 – 18, Move into Multiplication Multiply by 2, Discovering Division Dividing by 2; there are 55 lesson reinforcement materials and teaching hints, suggestions and planning notes spanning across 64 well designed pages.

Using this particular set of augmentation pages aids Little Learners as they learn how to separate the parts of word problems, figure out the problem itself, write the equation, and then arrive at the answer; an indispensable math ability that needs to be inculcated at an early age prior to introduction of operations per se.

While no book, set of materials, cards or manipulatives is meant to take the place of an adult instructor whether home school or classroom teacher, good reinforcement materials assure that lessons taught will become lesson reinforced and inculcated by Little Learners.

Ideal as an instructional instrument for individualized, differentiated, training in addition to being placed for use in reinforcement work centers where Little Partners or solo workers toil to shore up their understanding of lessons just taught.
