| oneazn2nv's Full Review: Logitech MX 300 (930762-0403) Mouse |
Since the dawn of time, back when Rocks were square and computers had names like: That big building over there. Well, not that long ago. Mice have been improving ever since. I was able to own many mice and come to love some and despise others.
Little background on me:
I owned track balls, wireless and optical mice. My favorite is the Optical wireless mice, but because of the delay, Video gamers like myself cannot use them while playing. (Counterstrike, Quake, Wolfenstein etc.)
The MX300 features: Optical, wheel, E-mail.
The MX300 is an optical mouse that is wired to the computer. This mouse cost me $29 from fry's electronics, and I bought 3 of them for my friends at work (aren't I a nice guy.) The real reason I bought this model was firstly because of the cost. It was inexpensive. Secondly it was an optical mouse.
When I bought it I didn't expect it to impress me much. It was one of the cheaper models, and didn't have side buttons (the back and forward buttons on explorer bars). I had been very disappointed in the way track balls have to be cleaned all the time and I'm sure you know what I mean... anyways, My co-worker (who isn't too computer savvy) asked me what the advantages and disadvantages of an optical mouse would be.
My answer was:
Pros:
1. No more cleaning out the track ball.
2. More precision.
Cons
1. Slower response
2. Sometimes cannot read correctly when moving the mouse quickly
I proceeded to try to explain the 2 cons that I had for optical mice. With this mouse, it reads information so fast, that I couldn't show him either. The mouses optical reader reads information per second faster than you can move the mouse. So I had to say that there were no cons to the optical mouse, and that it is 100 percent better than the old track ball mouse.
Now to give it some kind of rating - I'm a video gamer by nature, so my rating categories are kinda affected by this.
Graphics: The graphics of the mouse refer to the aesthetic value. It's looks basically. The MX300 first of all has one of the best names a mouse has ever been given, plus it has a silver (shiny) body with a crimson base and a black mask on top. It's definitely stylish.
8/10 - Cuz it looks cool but there's not many options on colors
Gameplay: The game play refers to the performance of the mouse in video game situations. (Since speed, power and accuracy have a lot to do with games and not with windows applications. It also includes the Features aspect of the mouse.
8/10 - Even though it is a very quick optical mouse, it is missing some of the newer features like the back button and the forward button. Plus there is an E-mail button that I haven't been able to get to work on the mouse.
Replay value: The replay value refers to the mouses durability, stability, and basically it's ability to take abuse.
9/10 - Because it is made of plastic
Overall-
25/30 - The combination of options, price and durability allow this model to be the best in it's class. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a practical optical wheel mouse.
