energyplus's Full Review: Iomega HDD External 80 GB USB 2.0 Hard Drive
I bought the Iomega 80 GB External hard drive for my computer, primarily as backup storage for my over 10 GB of photographs (I'm a semi-professional photographer) and 2,000 MP3 songs. I pondered over the choices, and the Iomega happened to be the last one I looked at. When I considered the price, looks, included software and the USB 2.0, my decision was clear. I couldn't be happier.
Installation took me all of 10 minutes (most of this time, behind my desk, trying to access the plugs, so your time may be less), including software installation. Within minutes, I was up and running (Windows XP Pro, Dell, 1.7 ghz computer with 512 Meg of RAM). My only disappointment came when I realized the hard drive comes preformatted for FAT 32. THis is the third hard drive I have on my computer and I use NTFS, so I had to convert it (one right click on your mouse and choose "Format" and select the NTFS is all there is to it). This does take awhile though, I left to go to the store, bought some groceries, returned and it was only about 90% complete. A few minutes later, it was finished.
The drive works flawlessly, as does the back up software. The real icing on the cake is that it comes with Norton Ghost as well, a very, very useful tool.
I highly recommend this drive if you're looking for a good, external drive.
