Pros: Small, easy to use, no installation required, truly plug and play
Cons: Could always use more space, nice if it were USB 2.0
The Bottom Line: Plug and play, it just works (no annoying install). This unit is great. Perfect if you frequently need to transport files that are in the 2-128MB range in size.

| stenz's Full Review: Iomega Mini USB Drive (128 MB) (32548) |
I use this device at work. Our network connection is quite slow, so we try to avoid using it to transfer files if at all possible. So if I need to take work home with me and it is too big for a floppy disk (1.44MB), and too small to burn a CD (600-800MB), then this device proves invaluable.
I can zip up my files and then plug this keychain sized device (it is smaller than my thumb) into the USB drive on the computer. I don't need to install drivers or anything - under WinXP it just recognizes the device and maps it as a drive.
I can then move my files onto it and then pull it out and carry it home in my pocket as easily as I would keys.
The file transfer rate seems to be quite good - it would be nice if it were USB 2.0, but it is fast enough now that I'm not sure it matters too much for 128MB of data.
(not sure if it is USB 1.0 or 1.1 - 1.0 is 1.5Mbps, 1.1 is 12Mbps, and 2.0 is 480 Mbps - keep in mind that is "mega bits per second" - not "megabytes per second")
I haven't had any problems with this unit, and I don't suspect that I will. It gets its power from the USB port and there are no moving parts on it, so there is very little to physically break on it. I would imagine the main concern would be to avoid getting it wet.
If I could change anything on it, I would maybe want more storage space, and maybe USB 2.0 - but even without those things, this is a fantastic unit.
We have them at work, and I didn't buy them, so I am not sure how much they cost.
