Intel's new processor is really a giant leap from previous processors. With a battery of new features, the Pentium 4 is the new performance king, beating out AMD's top processor easily. The Pentium 4 comes packed with features:
Intel® NetBurst™ micro-architecture
400MHz system bus
Hyper-pipelined technology
Rapid execution engine
Execution trace cache
Advanced transfer cache
Advanced dynamic execution
Enhanced floating point/multimedia
Streaming SIMD extensions 2
support for Dual Channel RDRAM, and is available in speeds of 1.40 GHz and 1.50 GHz.
However, the price of the processor is astronomical... It would be best to save your money and wait a few months, when you'll be able to grab an even faster processor for less money. I spent the money, but I regret. It's not THAT much faster than my friend's PIII 1 GHz.
