Computer shopping? Have $1300 laying around, ready to spend on the absolute latest technology? If you were looking for all the technology nicely packed in the awesome see-thru case of an imac, in another computer you'd be shelling out a lot more than the iMac DV price tag of $1300.
We purchased the iMac DV to add to our all Mac network in our home office, mainly because of the added DVD player and Firewire capabilities. And with the price we couldn't go wrong.
Aesthetically, this machine cannot be beat! Find me a PC box that looks as good.
Technically, for the price, it cannot be beat. Find me a PC box that has all thats packed in my Blueberry for the same price... (of course if you don't prefer Blueberry, there's 4 other flavors to choose from!)
The first night we couldn't wait to watch the included movie A Bug's Life, it was great. The built in speakers sound awesome, but with our subwoofer attached it was even more incredible. With a bowl of popcorn in one hand and a soda in the other, you'd swear you were at the movies!
The slot loading CD Rom is probably my most favorite new feature. It sucks the CD right from you hand, no more worries about vibrating CD rom drives. Another really appreciated new feature is the easy access to RAM. When we upgraded the standard 64Mgs of Ram with another 64mgs. of Ram, we were in and out in less that 10 minutes, that includes shutting down and restarting the mac. Unbelievable the change on that feature from the old iMac.
We are experimenting with iMovie, and are enjoying that included software as well!
With a 400Mhz G3 processor, 10gig HD, USB, CDROM, Int. V.90/56K modem, lots of included software and the rest we really feel that no home is complete without one!
My husband is a total computer novice and he set up the new machine out of the box and was surfing the net in less than 10 minutes! Pretty Cool!
