| 4rhodes's Full Review: Apple iMac DV Indigo 15 in. (M7639LL/A) Mac Deskto... |
Hey, there are 73 opinions posted on the iMac Dv as of 2/14/01. I bought mine a year ago and am still pleased with its' performance. This is not a review of the iMac DV, just a tip on something cool to do once you own one. I learned this great little trick today and wanted to share it with you.
First you need to own an iMac. Go on, get it! I purchased my computer for $1299 last year. I see the same exact model listed for $999 today. When you bring the box home, just unpack the computer, plug in the power cable and phone wire. That's it. You're up and running.
Scan or download a picture. Try to find one that really describes you - what you like, who you are, etc. Save it onto the desktop.
Click and hold the multi-colored apple in the upper left hand corner of the screen. Open Control Panels, then open Appearance.
When the Appearance file folder stack is visible, click on Desktop. On the middle right hand side of the folder you will see a button titled Place Picture. Click this.
Another window will open called Open. Directly under the title Open you will see a scroll bar. Adjust this bar to read Desktop. You will now see all of the folders presently residing on your desktop. Choose the folder where you have stored the picture. Then choose the picture. Press the Open key. This Open sub-window will close bringing you back to the Desktop sub-window. Now, press Place Picture. You will now see your picture previewed.
To have this picture as the backdrop on your computer when it it turned on, press Set Desktop.
People really get a kick out of seeing a picture on the desktop. You can change it any time you like, it's like having an electronic bulletin board!
When taking a digital photo to place on the desktop, take it at the best resolution as possible.
Now, doesn't this help in your decision to buy and iMac DV?
Note: Did I place this in the wrong category? Can anyone think of a better place for it? If so, please comment or email me at sixroads@yahoo.com. Thank you.
