| Boston987's Full Review: Compaq Presario 5304 (120969-004) PC Desktop |
While working with the federal government I had to use a number of different computers including examples from IBM, AT&T, Gateway, and Apple. At home I even had an Apple that I had purchased in 1995 with at the time 1/2 gig hard drive and a 14.4k modem. The latest computers used in government service did come as high as 28.8 K modem and later an updated 56 K modem connection for the internet. They "crashed", "locked-up", "slowed-down", and gave me tons of hanging "cursors" of which I personally "cursed about."
In the meantime I took several high school courses on computers to include the internet. The school computer of choice was Compaq and I was impressed! These machines get beat up by tons of kids and survive! Subsequently early in 1999 I bought a complete Compaq system with Compaq monitor and Compaq printer. It was "heaven" even when the operator (including a 16 year old know it all stepdaughter) crashed the machine through her own errors. With the self fix programs the machine reboots and just hums along. The speed on the internet with its 400mz processor is great and the tutorials are wonderful. The Apple on the internet would crash constantly and several times the back up disc needed to be used to "revive" the computer. Programs are easy to load and the computer for non-experts(myself included) has been user friendly. I would recommend a Compaq to anyone. Tested in the jungle of schools and still running.....
If this computer can survive a 16 year old ,prone to destruction of a computer, and have it still run then it gets 5 stars in my book!
