I recently purchased a Compaq Presario 5460 computer. I have been very pleased with it and have had absolutely no problems. I was on a tight budget when I was shopping for my computer and had to stay in the $1000.00 price range. The 5460 had all of the features I was looking for and fit right in my budget with a $1059.99 price tag including the 15" monitor.
At the time Compuserve was offering a $400.00 rebate for using their internet service when you purchased a Compaq and that was a nice plus! This is not a Pentium, but the speed is just as good. The AMD K6-2 processer is great with its 475 MHz speed and is plenty fast enough for home use.
I use my computer at home for building web pages and other desk top publishing functions and I have been very pleased with my Presario 5460.
I spend at least 30-40 hours a week on the internet and enjoy the Compaq Internet Keyboard and Internet Scroll Mouse that came with the system.
Another reason for choosing the 5460 was the fact that it comes with a built in 100 MB Iomega Zip Drive which is important for backing up my files that I spent so many hours creating!
When I got home and started to set up my new computer I was amazed at how simple it was to hook up. All of the connections are color coded and the instructions were simple and easy to follow. I would recommend the Compaq Presario 5460 to both novice computer users and hard core 'geeks'.
