After having many problems with a brand new NEC system, I took it back to the retail store where I purchased it and was offered the Presario 5724, because the store would not refund my money. Honestly, This machine is fast. I enjoy its Internet ease and performance. I also enjoy the software bundle that came with the machine and how easy it was to connect as well as easy to manage. I have had several problems with it, which are considered minor by my tech support provider but that are bothersome to me as a PC user. The Presario 5724 tends to tell me frequently that I have committed an illegal operation, also it is not compatible with some printers. I am always getting spool 32 messages when I print documents with my current printer (and I have tried several). Last but not least, it tends to freeze frequent. I have contacted my tech support and have been told that these are minor problems that Compaq machines are known for. As far as with other peripherals, I have had a lot of fun with my scanner and my digital camera. It works very fast and well with them. Truly, I have had other machines that have given me a very hard time, but this machine is not bad at all. Not everything or everyone is perfect. It is my opinion that is a good buy for its money. If anyone knows how to correct my little problems please feel free to respond. Thanks
