I bought the Compaq 5888 because I wanted a fast processor for Windows at the best possible price possible. I bought mine as a open box model from Best Buy for $1460, not including a monitor or printer. I probably should have bought a computer from dell.com, I think they are cheaper.
This computer freezes up on me quite a bit when I am searching the net. I do not know if it is AOL's fault, but I do not have problems with AOL at work. Also, when it freezes up and I do "control, alternate, delete" to shut down the offending program, I always have to hard crash the computer because the computer will not shut down. Lastly, when I start the computer, it always asks me for a network password, and I always have to click cancel. I have read the manuals but never found out how to get rid of that box and question (let me know if you know how).
I had an IBM Aptiva and had problems with that. Maybe Hewlett-Packards are better? I hear Dells are good.
