Of all the computers that Hewlett Packard released this year (i.e. 6600, 8600, and 9600 models) the 6640 is by far the best computer out there...well, as far as the deal goes anyway. Bang for the Buck, this is the best computer out there from HP this year. Selling for just $799 for the computer at HPshopping.com (thats not saying you cant get it cheaper somewhere else either) this pavilion is where its at.
The 6640 features the AMD K6-2 processor that runs at a 500Mhz clock speed. The K6-2 chip is faster than the Celeron, and just about the same price; and will do pretty much everything youre going to need it for. Well as a home-end user anyway (you gaming freaks go somewhere else, the 8500 series for example). Also featured is a CD-RW drive, for making your own CD's and data backup. There is also 64MB of ram, usually I frown upon computers with only 64MB of ram. However at this price, buying another 64MB isnt that big of deal. As far as that Sis530 video card thats in there. Once again, I dont really like it; for the price though, its a good buy.
The only downside to this Micro tower is that if your a gamer, there is no AGP slot. But, if youre a gamer, get a 8500 series pavilion. For a basic home PC this is your best bet. And as far as what you get, for what you pay...you just dont get any better than this.
