| jbar's Full Review: Hewlett Packard Pavilion 6640C (D9287A#888) PC Des... |
I saw this on sale with the MSN rebate offer. I had heard HP was a good brand so I bought it.
This system came with lots of features--CD writer, Microsoft Works, Microsoft Money, Windows... The system also had a 15 inch color monitor.
I finally got the boxes in the house and opened them up. The directions were easy to understand--all the wires are color coded for people like me who are not mechanically inclined. I had the system up in 30 minutes. That may not sound good to you but I was proud.
I had one major glitch. I was having problems with the monitor. First, the screen started jumping. Then half the screen would go blank. I took it back to the store because the system was not even a year old. It turned out the CRT was bad. However, I got a credit in store for a whole new monitor.
The speakers are a great feature--they mount to the monitor. That keeps them out of the way.
The system also comes with CD writer--otherwise known as a burner. You can record from on CD to another. It is a little time consuming as you need to download the disc into your hard drive and then transfer the information onto a blank CD. I like the feature, although it takes some time, and have used it often.
The system likes to freeze up too but that doesn't happen too often.
The other thing--it is easy to hookup joysticks and has a good sound when playing games.
