Great modem with easy install!

Pros: Fast and easy install! Works great in 98 thru 2000 (including ME)!
Cons: A bit pricey compared to some DSL modems, but well worth it!
The Bottom Line: Great modem, easy install. 3Com has great support, just ashamed that it won't work with HP computers.

After having many issues with the Bell Atlantic (now Verizon) provided DSL modem, the USB Speedstream 4060 from Efficient Networks, I went out and bought this modem.
This modem proved to be the missing link to my main system. The previous modem did not work properly most of the time, caused hangups, didn't work at all in 2000, etc. This modem after removing all references to the old modem and shutting down the computer, installed with no problems.
Opened the machine up, installed the card, rebooted, and installed the software (on ME side - my computer is set for dual boot of ME and 2000). No problems, connection with Verizon was there, fast download speeds, no problems.
Now for the real tests, shutdown and installation on 2000. Shutdown actually worked, it was a beautiful site! I rebooted the machine, and installed the drivers on the 2000 side, and no hitches either. It connected, gave me superb transfer speeds (which by the way, 2000 is a bit quicker than ME is on internet transfers, plus resource handling is of a much higher level). Shutdown wasn't an issue with 2000 either.
After a few weeks now, I haven't been more pleased with my internet connection. This modem proves that quality hardware is still available!
I have also installed this modem for a few friends in Windows 98, and has worked all the time except with one machine. For some reason, and noone (3Com, Verizon, and HP) can tell me what the problem is with installing DSL modems with Hewlett Packard computers. Even the USB modem would not work with an HP computer.
SUMMARY - Modem is great (provided you don't have a Hewlett Packard, or at least the model that I was trying to install it in). Price is a bit high, but well worth the extra money spent. Works well in 2000, 98, ME, and should work well in 95 also.
