If you would have asked me about this monitor last week, I would have told you to get one. This week I'm not so sure. In all fairness, the DX700T is the best monitor I have owned as far as picture quality and overall performance. However, let me also say that the DX700T is the worst monitor I have owned as far as reliability. I decided on this monitor because it was listed as a PC Magazine Editor's Choice. I bought this monitor for about $600 in the summer of 1997. After I received the monitor via mail-order, I plugged it in to my system and proceeded to watch the screen blip uncontrollably the go black. Needless to say, I returned the monitor and eventually received another monitor. This monitor served me for 2 years 5 months, then it did the same thing as the first. I suppose am a little old-fashioned but I expect a monitor to last at least 5 years. I am a computer tech by trade and I deal with all sorts of hardware day in and day out. I personally use an 8 year old NEC monitor at work and it has never given me any trouble. Lucky for me, it is still under part of the warranty (I won't have to pay for parts.) My advice to anyone considering this or any other Trinitron monitor is to buy the extended warranty, or look at another model.
