Pros: Clear and precise images. Good sound quality cool look!
Cons: Hard to find, lacks USB.
The Bottom Line: Hard to find another monitor to match the many excellent qualities of this monitor. Built in speakers make a great monitor even better.

| KAR120C's Full Review: Sony CPD 100ES CRT Monitor |
This review is about the Sony 100VS Monitor (like the ES but with speakers and microphone)
I have been using this 15 inch monitor for over 2 years and have enjoyed its clear and precise image all the while. It has been running non stop in all that time and it, nor I have never complained!
The 100 VS has a nearly perfectly flat screen and 3 speaker; 2 to each side and one under the monitor swivel for bass. The sound is quite good for a monitor housed speaker system. Of course you can not expect great stereo separation or bone thumping bass from a monitor based speaker system, but it sure does make things cleaner and more compact.
The 100 VS has digital controls mounted on the front and are generally easy to use. But frankly; once you set up your monitor you will rarely touch these controls. There is a speaker mute switch on the left of the control panel. The built in microphone is on the upper left above the screen. There are side mounted headphone and aux microphone jacks on the left side of the monitor. These jacks and the monitor cable are color coded, making speaker and microphone connection much simpler. I would love to have a built in USB hub. Newer versions of this monitor style may have this by now.
In its slate blue case the 100VS looks quite high tech. Combined with its superb image quality of 0.25 pitch it is a real eye pleaser. It is also constructed like a tank in familiar Sony style. It has the look and feel of a product meant to last a long time indeed.
I would not hesitate to buy another Sony monitor. My only problem is finding a good deal on the models with built in speakers. I really feel they are the way to go as desk riding speaker add more cables and clutter than I can manage.
