| seracorde11's Full Review: Sony ES Series Model 200 17 inch CRT Monitor |
When my old monitor kicked the bucket, I was in great distress. I HAD to have a monitor that night, so we drove to Office Depot for our "emergency" buy. It was almost 9:00 p.m., their closing time; however, sensing a quick sale they graciously allowed us to shop.
We saw several brands and types of monitors, but this Sony CPD-200ES really caught my eye. It had the best color, unwavering picture, and was priced at $350. Although I hated paying that much for anything since I am cheap, I needed a new monitor and I wanted a device that had great color and quality. We finally lugged out new Sony monitor out to our car.
Installation was a snap. Windows recognized the monitor the first try (what a shock!) and thinking back, we had more trouble getting the monitor in our Hyundai Accent than we did in setting it up.
Features
* * * 17" Virtually Flat Display with High Resolution * * *
* * * Supports resolutions up to 1600 x 1200 @ 60Hz * * *
(however the recommended resolution is 1024 X 768 @ 85Hz)
* * * 0.24mm Aperture Grille pitch * * *
* * * Image clarity and precision * * *
* * * OSD Menu Control * * *
If you suffer from poor eyesight, this monitor's characters are always sharp and clear. I hate trying to read text and the screen is blurry. This monitor brags at having clear picture and it really does!
Durability
I think this is the most durable piece of hardware we have in our house. Once when my husband and I were arguing, he lost his temper and threw my monitor. My heart stopped beating. Not my new Sony! But the monitor still worked. In fact, it still runs like new a year later.
I still cannot get over the color. This is technicolor compared to real life bland color monitors. It has a viewable image size of 16" and has screen treatment of high contrast AR coating.
It's On-Screen Display consists of:
Contrast, Brightness, H/V Size, H/V Centering, H/V Convergence, Control Lock, Zoom, Raster Rotation, Pincushion, Pin Balance, Keystone, Key Balance, Color Temperature, Moire Adjust, H/V OSD Position, DeGauss,
Multi-Language Select, and Help Menu
Other resolutions it supports is:
640 x 480 @ 60Hz VGA Graphics
640 x 480 @ 85Hz VESA
720 x 400 @ 70Hz VGA Text
800 x 600 @ 85Hz VESA
832 x 624 @ 75Hz
and with Macintosh machines:
1024 x 768 @ 75Hz VESA
1024 x 768 @ 85Hz VESA
1280 x 1024 @ 75Hz VESA
1600 x 1200 @65Hz VESA
In the next few months, I am hoping to buy yet a second Sony CPD-200ES because the price is right for the color and quality.
Thanks for reading, and I hope I didn't leave something out someone might what to know because "Monitor Man" is not my nickname. :)
