Pros: Clean, crisp display (for a while)
Cons: Dies, and Sony won't stand behind it. Not worth the premium
The Bottom Line: Avoid. Works great out of the box, but doesn't last.

| marktem's Full Review: Sony ES Series Model 200 17 inch CRT Monitor |
There's no doubt that the display on the CPD 200ES was clean and crisp and really nice. However, the display quality deteriorated over time, even with my very light usage.
As a number of reviewers have noted, the Sony display carries a premium price. However, my opinion is that the performance does not warrant the premium.
The monitor carries a 3 year warranty. After 3 1/2 years of light home use, the picture tube was completely unusable. All brands of monitor come with a 3 year warranty. I bought the Sony one specifically because I didn't want to have to dispose of it the instant the warranty expired. I expected better from the Sony brand and reputation, and from Sony quality.
Sony refused to stand behind its reputation and provide a post-warranty repair. They wanted to charge me $292 plus shipping to fix it. Forget that.
Save the premium, buy a lesser brand with a just-as-good display, and throw it out after the same 3 years.
