| hsyu's Full Review: Sony ES Series Model 200 17 inch CRT Monitor |
My first monitor was a cheap Acer 15 inch. The picture was slanted and there was no way to adjust it. Fonts and icons looked "fuzzy" and out of focus sometimes. Colors were bland and resolution wouldn't go beyond 800 x 600.
Enter the Sony CPD 200ES.
PROS
----
Superb picture quality. Sharp images. Rich in color. .25 apeture grille. You just can't get any better with Trinitron tubes. Have you ever say, watched a movie on a plain RCA set then tried watching it on your friend's Sony? Wowsers.
All the buttons for adjusting the screen are right there in front of you. No need to dig or scroll through mazes of menus to get to what you need.
CONS
----
The resolution only goes up to 1152x864, but then again, most people don't even like to work with 1024x768. Most of the people at work are comfortable with 800 x 600. Why? I don't know. i like to fit more on my screen so I can multitask.
Good things don't come cheap, and in this case, they really don't. With an estimated $350 price tag, you might want to think carefully before shelling out an arm and a leg. I spend long hours in front of a computer, am an avid gamer, and work with web design. I also watch movies on my computer.
You have to turn the monitor on and off to get it to degauss.
IN THE END
----------
A monitor that is not intended for the faint of heart. What sets apart high end monitors and low end monitors goes farther than the name. High end monitors typically offer flicker free refresh rates (which translates to less eye strain and headaches after long use) in addition to sharp and brilliant colors. This Sony falls into the high end category. But keep your options open; MAG, Mitsubishi, CTX and ViewSonic all make very good monitors as well.
