I got the Apple Pro Mouse with the purchase of my iMac DV in August 2000. It is a very good mouse, especially compared to those mice that used to come with the older G3s that were too small, had a small click button, and were not optical.
The difference between an optical mouse and a non-optical mouse is simple. An optical mouse uses a laser instead of a ball, which makes it extremely accurate because there is no ball to get dirty, not track properly (when getting caught on eraser hairs), and function poorly.
The design is very cool. It has a see through top, which allows you to see all the circuits, the red laser, and the small Apple logo inside the mouse. This design is very cool, and since it's not a "fruity color," it will not go out of style anytime soon.
This mouse is very easy to use. There is no annoying button to have to find when you want to click: the whole mouse top is a button! All you have to do is press down with your fingers, and its been clicked! What an ergonomic design! The mouse fits right into the palm of your hand, making it very comfortable to use and easy to hold onto. To change the click pressure settings, all you have to do is simply turn a little dial on the bottom.
This mouse can get a little expensive compared to other optical mice when not bought with a computer, but it also is way more stylish than any other optical mouse I've ever seen, too.
