The Bottom Line: Good, not great. Other optical mice offer more features and better performance. While I don't think it's a bad product, there are better ones out there.

The macintosh pro mouse is a step up for standard mice for the Macintosh platform (if you buy an new G4), and is adequate as such. I got mine free at work, and so I can't complain much about it, but people who pay $60 for theirs may wish they'd bought something else (like the microsoft intellimouse explorer).
While it works fine under normal use, quick movements cause it "skip", or jump around on the screen. It's clear shell looks good, but gets dirty fast and requires constant cleaning.
I have an intellimouse explorer on my PC which is dream to use. It tracks fine, has lotsa extra buttons, and the matte surface never needs cosmetic cleaning. I'm fairly sure that it can be used with a mac, too. If you're a mac person because you hate microsoft, then maybe look to the logitech optical mice.
