| jo.com's Full Review: Logitech Marble Mouse (904360-0215) Trackball |
I bought a new computer less than a year ago and recently my mouse was giving me a hard time. You know what happens..The cursor sticks or you have to move the mouse all over the pad to find the cursor.
It was time for a new one. I went to Staples, the store not online, since I wanted to be able to look at them in person and touch them. I purchased the Logitech Marble Mouse for $27.99.
Several things went into choosing this one:
1. The price – it wasn’t the least expensive nor the most. It seemed a good price for what I was getting.
2. I use the computer a lot and my hand gets tired and starts to hurt. I saw that this mouse is designed to fit your hand comfortably and I was hoping that would relieve that. It did. My hand gets less tired than it used to and I will explain why in number 3.
3. This mouse doesn’t have to be moved on the pad. It is stationary. The cursor is moved with what is called a trackball, which is a ball that you move around with your finger. Not truly necessary information, but for your information, the mouse is 6 1/2 inches long by 3 1/2 inches wide.
This design means you do not have to move your hand and arm but you are also using 2 fingers, your thumb and first finger rather than just 1.
This certainly took getting used to. It took me a week to get the feel for it.
-The mouse can be used if you are right handed or left handed. The ball gets moved with your pointy finger and thumb no matter which hand you use.
-This mouse is not for someone with tremors, arthritis or poor fine motor control. (In other words, if you have trouble picking up a dime off the table or tying your shoelaces, you will not like this model.)
-This mouse can be used with any application, no software is necessary and it comes with 2 plugs, the thong one and the rectangular one so it fits different types of computers. It does have a cord, but since the mouse doesn’t move, it never gets in the way.
If you have the patience to get used to the new feel, go for it. I love my new mouse – I don’t ever have to chase after it.
