| phungus's Full Review: Logitech Marble Mouse (904360-0215) Trackball |
I recently found myself in the market for a new mouse after my Microsoft optical took a dump on me, and only after about a year's use. I went to Ebay and found a great deal on this Logitech Marble Mouse. I chose it because I got a great price, because I wanted to try something different, and because I had used one before.
This mouse connects to your PC like any other mouse. It will connect either through USB or PS/2. You simply plug it in, start your computer, then install the appropriate software. Simple and straightforward.
I recommend that you always install your mouse or keyboard to your PS/2 ports, rather than USB, just because PS/2 is more stable, in my opinion.
This mouse has a ball on it that is roughly the size of a golf ball. It functions to move the mouse around. This is what a trackball mouse is. Basically, it is a regular mouse turned upside down.
The buttons are located on either side of the mouse, and are very big and easy to hit. However, they are placed in a way that you won't accidentaly click them. My old Microsoft mouse had extra buttons that were easy to click by accident.
The only major drawback to this mouse is that it does not have a scrollwheel. But you can click both mouse buttons at the same time and be able to scroll down the screen. The functionality is still there - just the method of using it is different.
Some people take to a trackball instantly and others just simply hate them. Before buying one, I would spend some time in the store using one and really deciding whether or not you would like it.
