| linux_b0y's Full Review: Microsoft Intelli Explorer (B75-00001) Mouse |
I loved the previous Intellimouse - it fit beautifully in my hand, tactile feed back was superb, ergonomically super. Bothmy home and office use forced hot air heating, so the environments tend to be a bit dusty. When this mouse came out I went right over to COMP USA and bought 3. Mistake.
It isn't terrible, but neither is it what I've come to expect from Microsoft Hardware (their support stinks, but they do turn out quality products). For example, there are two semi-programmable buttons on the left side of the mouse that are intended for use with your thumb. The first button (nearest the user) is fine, but you actually have to lift and reposition your hand in order to reach the second button (and I have fairly long fingers). As for the standard mouse buttons, they are too sensitive. This causes little problem with the left button because it sits higher than the right button, but I find myself constantly clicking the right button by accident (and I know for a fact this is an issue that is common among users - though I don't see it mentioned on this page). Also, either the angle is different from the previous Intellimouse incarnation or maybe it sits a touch lower, but I find my right pinky draging on the mousepad surface (yeah, I still use a pad - though it really isn't necessary).
Tracking is excellent. Mouse wheel is actually a bit LESS sensitive than the prior version, which is good (too easy to inadvertently press it when scrolling in the past). Good idea, but needs some work. And much too expensive for a mouse!!!
