I received my PowerBook shortly after it was announced. I was eager to get it because Apple makes so many great computers. I was not let down by this.
The screen is huge, it seemed even larger than in the pictures. The speed is awesome! It can reach speeds equal to desktop G4s even though it uses a G3 chip! The battery lasts long, and it's great to be able to play DVDs anywhere! If you aren't going to watch DVDs on the run though, and you want to get rid of that extra weight of the DVD drive, you can remove it and put a plastic rectangle in it. If you want some extra battery power, remove the DVD module and put in a second battery!
The RAM is sufficient, and the graphics card is great, but if you are going to run graphics intensive games like Unreal Tournament, I'd get a 64 megabyte ram upgrade at least. You can upgrade the ram to over a gigabyte, but apple recommends only having half as much ram. It also has firewire and usb ports along with standard laptop ports, and it also has airport capabilities!
This laptop is great for editing digital film now that Apple made iMovie a free download and that it has firewire ports for connecting digital camcorders to. It is a definate buy!
