| Damien's Full Review: Apple PowerBook G3 (M7308LL/A) Mac Notebook |
I've been a Macintosh user for years. I'm an Apple technology fan and work as a Macintosh consultant in New York City. I troubleshoot and fix many different kinds of Macs every week. I've seen and repaired most models.
The PowerBook G3, in my opinion, is one of the better Apple laptops to come along. The PowerBook G3 Series II sports many nice features, particularly the brilliant 14.1" active matrix screen and the two removable bays that make plug and play computing as easy as I've ever seen it. Without even restarting my computer, I can change between a battery, a CD-ROM drive, a zip drive, a DVD drive, or if you must, a 3.5" floppy drive.
The 14.1" is the best I've seen on a PowerBook. When I first got my PBG3, I was so impressed by the screen quality, I carried it around showing it to everyone that would listen.
Now, the PBG3 is not without its faults. It does get a bit warm and can be a bit heavy. In the end, though, it's a very durable machine. It has become my main computer. I love that I can carry it back and forth between home and work and I don't even have to restart to check my e-mail.
There are newer models of the PBG3 out and they're very nice. Particularly, the bronze-keyboard 400Mhz model is very impressive. However, it's also quite a bit more expensive. For the user looking for a high-quality and durable laptop at a reasonable price, the PowerBook G3 is the machine for you.
