| earcos's Full Review: Apple PowerBook G3 (M7308LL/A) Mac Notebook |
I've been using my PowerBook for about a year, doing web design work mainly. As a web designer I have to use programs like Photoshop, Illustrator, GoLive, BBEdit, all at the same time, all working like crazy...I was thinking on buying a PowerMac, but then I realized that I work in my house and in the office almost the same, I needed something very fast, very powerful, very portable, and the PowerBook was the answer.
I always had this fear that a laptop wouldn't give me the same amount of power a desktop computer gives, but I was completely wrong.
The PowerBook truly delivers a incredible amount of power, you can have 10 programs open, all working at the same time, the processor and hard disk is very fast, the screen is excellent, 2 USB ports, SCSI port, S-Video output, 10/100 ethernet, and a 56kb modem. 2 hot swappable bays, and 3 hours battery.
The Powerbook has turned for me into a portable SOHO, I can do anything I need anytime and anywhere, I can work for 3 hours on the plane, or anywhere I need to.
With the announcement of the PowerBook G4, I guess you can buy a PB G3 for a lot less price, and have a very powerful portable workstation, and believe me, you won't be disappointed
