TiBook: the jewel of laptops

Pros: Sexy looking, high powered laptop. Price vs. feature winner. Slot loading DVD burner
Cons: Bottom cover can be warped if not reinstalled correctly. I don't have one yet!
The Bottom Line: If you need a mobile desktop computer look no farther. This one will do everything you need.

The Titanium Powerbook aka. the TiBook. This little 5 pound wonder can now do it all. With the recent processor speed upgrades, the addition of the DVD burner, and the up to $500 price drop, it's going to be hard not to want one now. With the first ever slot loading Super Drive and processor speeds of up to 1 GHz. This may be a valid option for those who used to use a desktop. With the new prices of $2,299 (867 MHz) and $2,999 (1 GHz) the improved system bus, more base RAM, improved display, these are sure to be a winner. If you need to, you can attach any USB keyboard, mouse and with the DVI to ADC connector ($149.00) the beautiful 23" Apple® cinema Display ($3,499.00). Again being a laptop, I would highly recomend AppleCare®, especially if you buy the 23" display. If purcased at the same time, AppleCare will cover the laptop and Cinema Display.

These laptops come pretty much fully configured. They come with the following software preinstalled.
Mac OS X, Mac OS 9, QuickTime, iCal, iChat, iMovie, iPhoto, iTunes, iDVD (requires SuperDrive), DVD Player, Mac OS X Mail, Microsoft Internet Explorer, EarthLink (includes 30 days of free service), Acrobat Reader, Art Directors Toolkit, FAXstf, Graphic Converter, OmniGraffle, OmniOutliner, PixelNhance, Snapz Pro X, Developer Tools, Apple Hardware Test CD.
Pros:
They have the following ports 1 Firewire®, 2 USB, 1 PC Card/CardBus slot supporting one Type I or
Type II card, Gigabit ethernet, 56k Modem (V.92, modem cable included), Audio line in (minijack), Headphone out (minijack), S-video output port , Composite video output with included S-video to composite adapter DVI output, VGA output with included DVI to VGA adapter.
While they lack some of the Apps of the consumer version, they more than make up for it with the additional RAM and larger hard drives. The two higher end models (1 GHz) have the Airport® card preinstalled. The card is regularly $99.00. The 1 GHz models also have more VRAM. This will help if you're doing video editing, or playing games on them. The recent price drop makes them look even better, as the older 800 MHz TiBook was listed as $3,499.
Did I mention the screen? 15.2" in a 5 pound package. It is sharp and look great, the resolution has been improved from the last version, Did I mention they lowered the price?. These are quite capable of becoming the only computer you'll need. OS X runs great on these, and you can even do editing and DVD production on them.
Cons:
1) I don't have one yet.....
2) the rear cover can become warped if you don't reinstall it correctly. If you have any fear of this let the Apple dealer install anything that requires the rear cover to be removed (Airport® card in the 867 MHz model).
3) Some would like to see more Apps included.
