I'm not an owner of the iBook and I don't even own a laptop of any kind but I do sell computers where I work and I feel that my opinion should count for something.
When we get a new item into the department, I'm usually the one that sets it up and tests it out because I figure if I'm going to try and sell them, I want to see how they work.
When the iBook first came in, I wasn't crazy about the design but I put my personal feelings in that respects on the back burner and tried it out. My initial impression was that it was a decent unit but lacked in power because it was only 300MHz. The good aspects of it were that it had 64MB of ram with a 6GB hard drive so I decided to give it a try. I put in one of the disks that came with the unit, played it for about five minutes and it froze up on me. I restarted the unit and tried a second time with the same disk and got the same results. Thinking maybe it was the disk, I tried opening one of the programs that was already loaded on the unit and for the first few minutes everything was great but once again, it locked up on me!
Now, I'm not saying that the iBook is a bad unit because it's possible that I just wound up with a bad one but I go by first impressions and after close to an hour of playing with the unit and having it freeze up several times, I have to give it a thumbs down! In all fairness to the manufacturer, I will say that this is only my opinion and that I have heard some good things about it!
