The Armada 3500 is a nice, light and fast notebook computer. My configuration included 128mb of RAM and a 6gb hard drive. The large screen is bright and easy to read. The keyboard started out well, however, after a month of use, a "squishyness" seemed to take over the keyboard. Additionally, hitting the "shift" key caused extra symbols to appear - usually the vertical bar - "|" symbol. This was but one of a number of mechanical defects that marred this computer. Several bits of hardware, such as the serial port bolts, were loose on arrival.
But by far, the most glaring defect is the docking station, which supports a CD-ROM and a floppy drive. Not only does the CD-ROM conflict with a Palm Pilot HotSynch operation, the CD-ROM was incompatible with all MP-3 Rippers I tried to use.
Battery life was good, with a few hours on a single battery.
All in all, you'd be better off with the IBM 420 or a Toshiba Portege if you need lightweight power.
