My husband loves to purchase things on impulse. So the day our old Cannon Laptop finally died, we went off to a large electronic chain store to look for a new laptop.
I like to extensively research large purchases. But my husband and I have separate computers. Even though we get to use each others computer, the purchase is an entirely independent decision.
To my surprise, this computer turned out to have everything we needed. These are my favorite features of the Compaq Presario 1600.
1. Easy to use right out of the box. If you know how to use a computer, you'll easily figure this one out. I even took it to my 80-year-old grandmother's house. She hasn't seen a computer since they used punch cards. She was surfing the Internet within a half hour.
2. The display looks great. It's sharp and clear. Great detail.
3. The dvd player has turned out to be great. We can watch movies anywhere in the house, and in our room when we go visiting somewhere. The high quality screen makes viewing a pleasure.
4. This computer has enough memory so that playing the cd player or internet radio does not slow down surfing.
5. It has a two prong electrical outlet. Our old computer had a three-pronged plug, which made it hard to find outlets while traveling.
6. The shortcut buttons are great. They will instantly connect you to the internet, email, etc.
7. The speakers look really lame, but work great. Adds a lot to the dvd watching experience.
8. The touch pad works more like a regular mouse. It is responsive and easy to get used to.
9. The scroll buttons underneath the touch screen are convenient, especially while surfing the Internet.
10. Though it crashed a few times when we first started using it, it has much less problems than other computers we have had.
Even though he did no research, the laptop turned out to be exactly what we needed. We have had several guests use it, and they were all impressed. In fact, I’m hoping to get one as my next computer.
