I too was initially pleased with my purchase. Once I had reason to contact tech support that feeling quickly vanished.
The solution to all problems was "send it in for 5 to 7 days".
I purchased a 128 meg RAM upgrade. The manual said to make sure it was P133 compatible. The chip received was not labeled and had almost no documentation. After 1 hour and 20 minutes of being shifted from sales to tech support, they determined that they had sent a 66 MHz chip & I should send back the one they shipped. I was also told that the manual did not say it should be P133, and that the machine had only one door on the back (it has two). Another tech told me that their manual must be wrong & I should not be concerned about whatever RAM chip they shipped.
The only reason this story had a happy ending was that I had purchased from Office Depot & they refunded the purchase price in full.
I'm shopping again, but would never consider a Compaq.
