A good laptop. I got it on EBay in 1999 for about $865 and then put a 18G hard drive and added 128MB of ram and got a docking station to bring the total up to $1200. Prices have sure come down since then!
Basically the PC has been trouble free. Last year I upgraded the OS from Win98 to WinXP Home. It always boots and plays DVDs well, although it gets real hot and shuts down if you don't provide enough ventilation. I put a GPS on the serial port and use it in my RV when I travel. Seems pretty rugged. Now that it is old, I'm not as careful with it as I used to be. It has been around a lot with me. I just replaced it with an IBM Thinkpad T40.
Big drawback: IT IS SLOW. VERY SLOW. The AMD K6-2 380 MHz CPU has no level 2 cache and only 8K of L1 cache. My 233 MHz Pentium can run circles around this PC. The battery life is not too great, only lasts about an hour, longer if I am not using the Hard Drive much. As far as watching a DVD using the battery- forget it! Therefore I got a 12V DC car adapter and soled the problem right away
