I want to let you all know that Compaq's 1600 series
Presario is the ideal notebook for anyone's needs. Specifically I will tell you about the 1692.
It has Windows 98, Word 2000, Encarta 99, and MS Works
all preinstalled. There are adds on the desktop for
at least 3 different Internet Service Providers. Its
built in 56K fax modem allows you to do some seriously
fast web surfing when you sign on. It comes with a 6
gig hard drive, so you can install all the work or fun
programs you need. A 4-speed DVD-ROM drive takes the
CDs place, allowing you to pop in a movie after a hard
day of work.
A business traveler would love this sleek system. It
is only 7 and a half pounds with the battery. It has
a nice 12.1-inch Active Matrix display (For those of
us who don't speak techie, that means you can see it
well from an angle or directly in front) that is
excellent for presentations. There is a touch pad
mouse, or for those who dislike a touch pad, there is
an easy access mouse port for a conventional mouse.
It also appeals to a kid as a toy. The 6 gigs give
you plenty of space for games, the modem for playing
friends on line. The screen size is good enough to
see what going on, and the speakers are right in front
of you for ease of hearing the gunshots of your
favorite games.
If you are in the market for a notebook, definitely
give this one a look. It is well equipped for the
future with its Floppy A drive, 56K modem, 4-speed DVD
player, and 6 gig hard drive. It may just be the one
right for you.
