Pros: light, DVD player, easy to use
Cons: Not one of the best models, kinda cheap, slow, gives me a ton of trouble
The Bottom Line: I just think this a cheap computer plain and simple. There are definitely better ones out there for a good price.

| ToExtremez's Full Review: Compaq Presario 1692 (153295-167) PC Notebook |
I am a senior in High School and I first needed a laptop for classes I wanted to take last year as a junior. I walked into my nearest computer store pretty much knowing what I needed and what was good and what wasn't. I had a Compaq desktop computer before that I very much liked about 3 years before, but purchased a new computer because of the technology raising so fast. Well I saw this laptop and compared it to others in the store and thought that it was the best one for the price of it. I went ahead and purchased it all excited because I had my first laptop of my very own. I went home and set it up and watched a DVD on it and thought it was so cool. I installed and played some games on it and loved the touch pad mouse and basically everything else about it. Then I went to school to start my classes and got a chance to look at everyone else's new laptops. Let me tell you, my new Compaq looked like the cheapest one there. But I thought "Hey looks isn't everything right?" So my teacher told everyone to turn their computers on, and I got a chance to see how fast everyone else's new computers took to boot up. I was last. After having this computer for over a year now, I have learned from personal experiences and from others that this computer is not the way to go. It is slow, tends to break down easily, hardware on it is very fragile, it looks and feels very cheap and, well there are just better computers out there. I'm not trying to bash Compaq here because there are upgraded models that I like, like the Compaq Presario 1700-XL275. But this model just seems to be flat out cheap. I really wish I had seen some of these other computers before I purchased mine.
