Pros: Lightweight, attractive periwinkle cover, fast processor speed
Cons: Great memory load causes immediate crashes, Compaq isn't very compatible with other installable products.
The Bottom Line: Get this computer if you don't get a new program every day. It's a great system if you don't overload its memory!

Great Features to Squawk About
I got this Compaq laptop refurbished, so the price I got it for might stun you. I got this computer in July of 2000 and have worn it basically to death over this past year.
This computer features a blue motif, the cover being periwinkle, the keyboard and interior being navy blue. Silver lettering and silver logos make this computer very pleasing to the eye when one opens it, especially for the first time.
One of the great features of this computer is that it has a built-in Ethernet card (mine had the card with it), and a built-in phone jack [modem] and T1 connection right in the side! This was great for when I got a Cable modem. About ten seconds and you're internet-ready!
The DVD-Rom and DVD Software add significantly to the computer. I have watched some DVDs on this computer, and I believe this model has a 4x DVD-ROM drive on it. NICE!
An RCA Jack allows you to transfer your monitor to different media, such as TVs or Overhead projectors. This feature is great for presentations, or in my case, television segments. The graphics do add a lot!
Easy Access Buttons right next to the On/Off button let you program web sites to those buttons. What do I mean, you wonder? I mean, you can push a button and go straight to your e-mail account, have another one for searching, have another one for shopping. Wow!
Other basic features include: Lightweight console, USB port, Parallel Port, Audio in/out jacks, and a keyboard and touchpad.
The 'Anywhere' Computer
You can take this computer anywhere and easily run programs, with or without batteries. I can take this computer to the recording station (TV) and insert graphics directly through RCA jack. The stand-by mode is wonderful. Just a touch of a key and the computer turns back on if it's in stand-by mode.
Wonderful Batteries!
I have tried the limits of the batteries in this computer. The batteries are built-in and last over 100 minutes (103 was the top time stretch so far)!!! I was shocked since all the other battery packs in other computers stank miserably. There was one new computer I tried that lasted only about 4 minutes with batteries! I was astonished!!!
Insecure...
The only problem I've had with this laptop is its stability. It will crash the second you overload its memory. That is so annoying to me! The first time it crashed, I was fine with it. A few hundred times later, it becomes annoying.
Don't Overload and You'll be Fine
Get this computer if you don't demand all that much from your laptop. The speed of the processor is very good (600-650 MHz in mine), the RAM is adequate (128 MB), and the graphics are great (4 MB Video card). All that memory will go to bust, however, if you install program after program after program.
It'll go anywhere, and it is a very nice computer system. You better Compaq it for your Trip!
